It is located at number 8115, at the corner of Vilakazi and Ngakane streets, a short distance up the road from Tutu House, the home of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu. Sakhumzi Restaurant

“Sakhumzi Restaurant is situated on the popular and historic Vilakazi Street, in Orlando West suburb of Soweto in Johannesburg. Vilakazi Street is host to original homes of Nelson Mandela and Bishop Tutu, not least it also hosts the site upon which Hector Peterson (the 13yr old) as 1st victim of Soweto Student Uprisings was shot dead by Apartheid police. As a result of the restaurant’s location on Vilakazi Street which is at the epi-centre of tourism in Soweto/Johannesburg the restaurant caters primarily for foreign tourist market and blue-chip corporate (team-building) group bookings. This target market informs the nature of ambience & cuisine offered by the restaurant. The cuisine is African township whilst the ambience aspires to complement heritage tourism theme.” – https://goo.gl/YmqSmg

Orlando Stadium

“On 16 June 1976 thousands of black students marched to Orlando Stadium to protest at having to learn the Afrikaans language. It was intended to be a rally and although it was organised some of the students only joined the protest on the day. It was planned to be a peaceful protest by the Soweto Students’ Representative Council’s Action Committee. The marchers got as far as their last meeting point when the police and tear gas arrived. The day ended in deaths and this was the start of the Soweto Uprising.” – Wikipedia
“The Orlando Stadium, located in Soweto, is the home of one of South Africa’s biggest soccer teams, the Orlando Pirates. The Orlando Stadium was rebuilt at a cost of R280 million ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and now has a capacity for 40,000 fans. The stadium has not only been used for soccer, in 2010 it also hosted the semi-final and final of the Super Rugby 14 championship and the stadium has also been used to host boxing matches and concerts. During the World Cup the stadium also hosted the World Cup kick off concert which featured international pop stars Shakira and Black Eyed Peas.” – https://goo.gl/f2xy7u

Orlando Towers

“Originally the site of a coal fired power station, the Orlando Towers have become one of the most distinctive landmarks in the neighbourhood of Soweto and the site of the world’s first bungee jump between two cooling towers, as well as other thrilling adventure sports such as abseiling and SCAD (suspended catch air device) falling.
At the base of the Orlando Towers lies Chaf Pozi, a popular shisa nyama restaurant and beer garden. Although the venue is known for its flame-grilled meat, the menu also caters for vegetarian and Halal patrons. Chaf Pozi frequently hosts well-known and up-and-coming local musicians and DJs, and is also available for corporate events and celebrations. Entrance to Chaf Pozi is free.” – https://goo.gl/LK7iVW
